Thank you to all who joined us last week at the @unioulu for Dr. Soukaina Chakkour's guest lecture on 'Migrant Epistemology' based on her research with Egyptian migrant families in Paris - we had a full house (or room in this case)! 📢On Tuesday 18th of November 2025 at 1PM (EET), Dr. Soukaina Chakkour of Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco will give a guest lecture at the University of Oulu upon our invitation. 📌Last week we participated in the EASA AnthroMob workshop "Feelings on the Move: (Im)mobilities, Embodiment and Emotions" in the Hague, Netherlands. #CallForPapers for the @etmugram (ETMU) Conference 'Breaking (digital) barriers: Designing and conceptualizing technologies of inclusive societies' is open until August 24th! Beyond debates about integration and the alleged incompatibility between cultures, the project zooms in into people’s everyday relationships unfolding in a cosmopolitan metropolis, a provincial town, and a rural area in Finland and France. Drawing on ethnographic methods, it explores how different people inhabit these places together, the bonds they form with others (or the lack thereof), and their struggles to build a meaningful existence there.
