Bruno Lefort is an Academy of Finland fellow at the department of Cultural Anthropology, University of Oulu (Finland). His research draws on ethnographic and collaborative approaches to examine the questions of belonging and coexistence, with particular attention to the interplay between life-trajectories, collective memories, and local environments.

Saara Toukolehto
Postdoctoral researcher
Saara’s ethnographic research focuses on the themes of (non-)belonging, coexistence, memory culture and the good life in socially diverse contexts marked by (im)mobility and transnationality, with a particular emphasis on gendered spaces. Through the study of everyday life in particular localities, larger scale socio-cultural and political transformations become tangible and meaningful at a human level, and provoke timely questions related to equity and social justice as well as the different kinds of futures that people envision for themselves, their communities and humanity at large.

Vadim Romashov
Postdoctoral researcher
Vadim is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Social Sciences, University of Eastern Finland. He employs ethnographic and participatory research methods to study community narratives, practices, and spaces of living together with differences. His research also examines the solidarities, tensions, and everyday insecurities that arise in response to hegemonic socio-political orderings.

Ebru Sevik
Research assistant
Ebru is a doctoral researcher at Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI) interested in diversity, segregation, coexistence in cities and their manifestations in the built environment. Her research focuses on everyday encounters in socially mixed urban environments and socio-spatial practices of peaceful coexistence. Her research draws on ethnographic and cartographic methods.
